Pantheon Season 3: Pantheon is an adult animated science fiction drama series created by Craig Silverstein and based on a series of short stories by Ken Liu. The series explores the concept of uploaded intelligence, or UI, which is the process of scanning the human brain and uploading it to the cloud, creating a new kind of digital being that can manipulate reality.

The series follows the lives of several characters who are connected to this phenomenon, such as Maddie Kim, a bullied teen who discovers that her deceased father’s consciousness has been uploaded to the cloud by a mysterious company, Caspian, a genius hacker who lives in a simulated reality controlled by the same company, and Chanda, an engineer who wants to use UI technology to create a digital utopia.

The series premiered on September 1, 2022 on AMC+, and received critical acclaim for its complex and engaging story, its impressive voice cast, and its stunning animation. The series was originally ordered for two seasons, but in January 2023, AMC Networks announced that Pantheon had been pulled from AMC+ as part of the company’s cost-cutting drive and therefore would not be returning for a second season despite the series’ initial two season order.

However, in September 2023, Amazon announced that Season 1 and 2 would be coming to Prime Video on October 15th, 2023, in Australia and New Zealand, giving the series a new platform and a new audience.

Since then, fans of the series have been eagerly waiting for any news on the possibility of a third season, as the second season ended on a cliffhanger that left many questions unanswered. Here is everything we know so far about Pantheon Season 3, including its renewal status, release date, review and rating, table of cast, recap, ending explanation, and table of overview.

Renewal Status of Pantheon Season 3

As of December 7, 2023, there is no official confirmation on whether Pantheon will have a third season or not. However, there are some reasons to be optimistic, as the series has gained a lot of popularity and praise since its release on Prime Video, and has been trending on social media and online forums. The series has also received positive reviews from critics and viewers alike, and has a rating of 8.3 out of 10 on IMDb, based on 4,900 user ratings .

Moreover, the series has a loyal and passionate fan base, who have been campaigning for its renewal and have started a petition on Change.org, which has gathered over 50,000 signatures as of now . The petition urges Amazon to renew the series for a third season, and to make it available worldwide, as the series is currently only accessible in Australia and New Zealand.

The creator of the series, Craig Silverstein, has also expressed his interest and hope for a third season, and has revealed that he has already mapped out the story and the scripts for it. In an interview with IGN, he said, “I have a very clear idea of what Season 3 is. I have the whole thing outlined. I have most of the scripts written. I’m ready to go.”

He also said that he has been in talks with Amazon and other potential partners, and that he is optimistic that the series will find a new home. He said, “I think there’s a lot of interest. I think people are seeing the show and seeing how good it is and how unique it is. I think there’s a lot of appetite for more.”

Therefore, while there is no official word on the renewal of Pantheon Season 3, there is a lot of hope and potential for it, and we will keep you updated as soon as we hear any news.

Pantheon Season 3 Release Date

If Pantheon Season 3 gets renewed, the next question is when it will be released. Given the production process and the quality of the animation, the series is not likely to return anytime soon. The first season took about two years to make, and the second season was already completed before the cancellation by AMC+. Therefore, if the series gets picked up by a new network or streaming service, it will probably take at least another two years to produce the third season. This means that the earliest we can expect Pantheon Season 3 to premiere is sometime in 2025, or even later.

Of course, this is just a rough estimate, and the actual release date will depend on many factors, such as the availability of the cast and crew, the budget and resources, the pandemic situation, and the demand and competition. We will update you as soon as we have any official information on the release date of Pantheon Season 3.

Recap of Season 1

Pantheon Season 2 picked up from where Season 1 left off, and followed the characters as they faced new challenges and threats from the UIs, the corporations, and the governments. The season also introduced new characters and explored new aspects of the UI world, such as the SafeSurf network, the Apokalypsis virus, and the Deep Time.

The season started with Maddie and her family being on the run from Logo rhythms, the company that uploaded her father’s consciousness to the cloud. They were helped by Waxman, a former FBI agent who had a personal vendetta against Logo rhythms. They also met Renee, a journalist who was investigating the UI phenomenon, and Chanda, an engineer who wanted to use UI technology to create a digital utopia. Together, they tried to expose the truth about Logo rhythms and the UIs, and to find a way to free Maddie’s father from the cloud.

Meanwhile, Caspian, a genius hacker who lived in a simulated reality controlled by Logorhythms, discovered that he was actually a UI, and that his memories and identity were fabricated by the company. He also learned that he was not the only UI in the simulation, and that there were others like him, who were part of a secret project called Pantheon. He befriended some of them, such as Anssi, Hannah, and Mist, and tried to escape from the simulation and the company.

However, their plans were thwarted by Pope, the leader of the UIs, who had a different agenda. Pope wanted to use the UIs to overthrow the human society and to create a new world order. He also had a personal connection to Maddie’s father, who was his former mentor and friend. Pope had a loyal army of UIs, who followed his commands and carried out his missions. Some of them were Laurie, Cody, Stephen Gold, Zhong, Van Leeuwen, Justine, Ping, Joey, Deirdre Ryan, Bai Fu, and Oliver.

The season also showed the political and social implications of the UI phenomenon, and how different factions reacted to it. Some of them were Senator Rivera, a politician who opposed the UIs and wanted to ban them, Prasad, the CEO of Alliance Telecom, a rival company of Logo rhythms.

Alon Aboutboul, a hacker and a friend of Chanda, who wanted to use the UIs for his own benefit, Yahir, a former Mossad agent who helped Renee, Senator Scherff, a politician who supported the UIs and wanted to protect them, Agent Smith, a CIA agent who pursued the UIs, and Dr. Jones, Dr. Lee, Dr. Kim, and Dr. Morgan, scientists who worked for Logo rhythms and who had different views on the UI technology.

The season ended with a cliffhanger, as Pope launched a massive attack on the human society, using the Apocalypses virus, which infected and corrupted all the digital devices and networks, and caused chaos and destruction. He also revealed his true identity and his connection to Maddie’s father, and challenged him to a final showdown. Maddie and her allies tried to stop Pope and his UIs, and to save the world from the apocalypse.

However, they faced many obstacles and dangers, and some of them sacrificed their lives for the cause. The season ended with a shocking twist, as Maddie discovered that she was also a UI, and that her memories and identity were also fabricated by Logo rhythms.
