He dedicated many years to teaching bareback riding and was known for his kind, joyful, and funny nature. His ability to communicate with camp participants in a way they easily understood made him a cherished instructor. Alongside his rodeo involvement, he worked diligently. He pursued education at New Mexico State University and had previously attended Albert M. Lowry High School. His current residence was in Las Cruces, New Mexico, although he originally hailed from Winnemucca, Nevada. Trenten was happily married to Maria Montero, sharing a life together. His contributions to the rodeo community and his impact on those he taught will be remembered fondly.

Trenton Montero, a renowned cowboy and bareback rider hailed from Winnemucca, NV, tragically lost his life on a Wednesday evening due to injuries suffered in a riding accident. The accident occurred on Thursday, August 10, 2023, during the Owyhee County Rodeo in Homedale, Idaho. Following a fall from his horse, he was quickly rushed to the emergency room. Disturbingly, the horse landed on Trenton, resulting in severe injuries, including three broken ribs, a fractured sternum, fractures in his pelvic bones on both sides, an aortic aneurysm, a pancreas tear, and spleen damage.

To aid his recovery, Trenton was placed in a medically induced coma and underwent a series of surgeries. However, due to complications arising from the extensive internal injuries, he required intubation and dialysis support. Tragically, despite determined efforts and another surgical procedure, Trenton’s life could not be saved, and he was pronounced deceased on that fateful Wednesday. The entire community is now mourning the loss of his wife, Maria Montero.
