In the process, Gunna has made a name for himself in the music industry, raking in a net worth of $4 million.

After starting off with his acclaimed “Drip Season” series of mixtapes, Gunna achieved greater success with his first studio album “Drip or Drown 2,” followed by his number one hit album “Wunna” and the chart-topping follow-up record “DS4Ever.”

His collaboration with Lil Baby on the single “Drip Too Hard” resulted in even more popularity, peaking at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Additionally, Gunna has an impressive list of collaborations; Travis Scott, Gucci Mane, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Durk and Drake among many others, have all featured Gunna on their own tracks and he has regularly been able to reach new levels of success within the ever competitive music industry.

The 2022 Arrest

In May of 2022, rapper Gunna – real name Sergio Kitchens – was arrested as part of a 180-page indictment that also involved fellow artist Young Thug.

The charges included drug possession with intent to distribute and receive stolen property and conspiracy to violate the RICO Act. Arrested while in possession of high amounts of narcotics at the time, Gunna had allegedly been leading a criminal ring for months prior.

He turned himself in and is currently standing trial for his alleged crimes.

When did he begin his career?

Gunna, born Sergio Giavanni Kitchens, began his fruitful music career in 2013 with the Underrated Classic Mixtape “Hard Body” under the moniker Yung Serg.

Having established a name for himself in the rap industry by 2015, Kitchens was introduced to another up-and-coming rapper – Young Thug – by their mutual friend Keith Troup.

Although each artist was already generating considerable buzz on their own, it was not until 2016 that the two joined forces on Young Thug’s “Jeffery” mixtape and released the hit single “Floyd Mayweather,” featuring Gucci Mane and Travis Scott.

This fateful collaboration ultimately thrust both rappers onto an even grander stage and is still remembered fondly by fans today.

Gunna’s entrance into the hip-hop world was nothing short of triumphant. In 2016, he released his mixtape “Drip Season” through Young Thug’s record label YSL Records, and it featured guest appearances from Nechie, Lil Duke and Thug himself.

The following years saw him release a multitude of projects; “Drip Season 2” in 2017 with Offset and Playboi Carti, his debut EP “Drip or Drown,” then 2018’s “Drip Season 3,” certainly no slouch in terms of impressive collaborations.

The deluxe version boasted a fantastic star-studded cast including Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Baby, Young Thug and Young Jordan.. His success looks set to go on for many years to come.

Gunna’s career took off with the release of his debut studio album, “Drip or Drown 2,” in February of 2019. Supported by the singles “One Call” and “Speed it Up,” the project debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 and earned mostly positive reviews from critics.

One year later, Gunna dropped his second LP, “Wunna.” This time around he hit the top of the charts, as it burst into number one on the Billboard 200, making it Gunna’s first number-one hit. The album was supported by singles such as “Skybox,” “Dollaz on My Head,” and the title track.

In July, a deluxe edition was released which included eight extra songs and welcomed new guest appearances from musical visionaries such as Future and Nav.

January 2022 saw the climax of Gunna’s “Drip Season” saga with “DS4Ever,” a studio album of immense magnitude.

Rounding out an impressive array of musical talent to feature on the record, the album boasted the likes of 21 Savage, Lil Baby, Kodak Black, Drake, and Roddy Ricch; despite such lofty expectations for what many considered a risky transformation in Gunna’s rap style, it was welcomed with open arms by fans and critics alike.

Upon its release, “DS4Ever” rocketed up to number-one on Billboard 200 as if it were destined for greatness – technically giving Gunna his second consecutive chart-topper in what proved to be an unprecedented achievement that signaled a remarkable career milestone.
